In this study, the novel "Tropen. Der Mythos der Reise" by the Austrian writer Robert Müller is discussed from the perspective of postcolonial literary theory. Robert Müller, who has been forgotten in literary studies today, conveys the traces of German colonial history and colonial politics to the reader with his novel. The historical colonial discourses and propaganda are believed to influence the fiction and plot in the literary works. With this in mind, this study tries to place the novel in the context of German colonial history and to draw attention to the effects of the colonial discourses in the novel.
